For almost 50 years, my father was a television critic. One of the perks of the job was, and still is, attending the annual Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles. During the tour, critics are wined and dined, shown excerpts from upcoming shows, and get to schmooze with the stars.
My dad always insisted on bringing my mom. Depending on who you talked to, this was either extremely cute and adorable or kind of awkward, especially for the critics who were trying to get in some quality time with the celebrities on hand.
